B.K.S. Iyengar said it simply, yet profoundly: "Ninety per cent of us are
suffering in some way, physically, mentally or spiritually. The science of yoga
helps us to keep the body as a temple so that it becomes as clean as the soul.
The body is lazy, the mind is vibrant and the soul is luminous. Yogic practices
develop the body to the level of the vibrant mind so that the body and the mind,
having both become vibrant, are drawn towards the light of the soul."Kona Yoga is taught in the Iyengar tradition by Barbara Uechi, in Kailua-Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii. Classes are open to all levels of yoga experience. The links supplied in the column to the right, should give you an overall picture of yoga and the difference in styles. If you're attending a Kona Yoga class for the first time, all you need to bring is a blanket or large towel. We have a small supply of props available. Regular students prefer to purchase their own mats, straps and blankets for use in class and for practice at home. Resources for props and yoga clothes are also listed in the next column. © 2003-2007 Kona Yoga |
